ZNCC April 2026 Newsletter Highlights: Driving Africa’s Industrial Future
The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) has released its April 2026 highlights, capturing key developments, policy discussions, and strategic engagements shaping Zimbabwe and Africa’s industrial and trade future. Under the 2026 theme, “From Resilience to Competitiveness: Charting a New Path for Sustainable Industrial Growth,” the publication reflects growing momentum toward practical implementation of industrialisation, regional integration, and private sector-led growth.
A major highlight of the edition was the Connect Africa Symposium 2026, held during the 66th Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF). Convening policymakers, industry leaders, development partners, financiers, and entrepreneurs, the symposium focused on the urgent need to move beyond policy discussions toward measurable implementation under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Discussions centred on infrastructure development, industrial competitiveness, youth enterprise growth, regional trade integration, and value addition.
The Guest of Honour, Vice President Col. (Rtd) Hon. Kembo D. C. Mohadi, emphasised that Africa must adapt to a rapidly shifting global economy by strengthening industrial capacity, infrastructure systems, and regional trade cooperation. Key sessions explored practical solutions around infrastructure financing, industrial upgrading, trade facilitation, energy resilience, and unlocking opportunities for SMEs and youth-led enterprises.
The highlights also capture important policy submissions and advocacy efforts by ZNCC during engagements with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. These included recommendations on the sugar tax framework, ZIMRA audits, import licensing under SI 59 of 2026, counterfeit products, youth employment policy, infrastructure financing, and the proposed National Standard Price List. The Chamber reinforced the need for balanced policies that promote industrial competitiveness while maintaining macroeconomic stability.
Another key focus was infrastructure development as the backbone of connected economies. Experts highlighted the importance of integrated investment in transport, energy, digital systems, rail rehabilitation, and trade corridors to lower the cost of doing business and improve competitiveness across Africa.
The edition further showcases ZNCC’s upcoming national events calendar, including the Mashonaland Annual Business Awards 2026, Midlands Business Awards, Women in Enterprise Conference and Awards, Annual Congress, Trade Missions, and other regional business engagements designed to strengthen collaboration and economic participation.
As Zimbabwe continues positioning itself within regional and continental value chains, the publication reinforces a strong message: sustainable industrial growth will depend on execution, coordinated policy implementation, infrastructure development, innovation, and stronger public-private sector collaboration.
